What does the PTA Do?
Thanks to your support, here are a few of the things the PTA funded, organized, or provided volunteer assistance for during the 2014-15 school year...

Enriched student education and experience
- Generously supplemented each classroom and special area teacher’s room account (100% of parent donations to room accounts fund this)
- Purchased two major pieces of equipment, the Supernova and Bloqx, to update the playground as the campus transitioned from a pre-school to a K-6 school
- Supported fine arts education by coordinating the PTA Reflections program
- Provided financial support to the choir, drama club, field day, robotics team, school musical, and 6th grade graduation
- Purchased a new scoreboard for the gym
- Provided volunteers for career week, field day, Reading in the Schools Day, and 6th grade graduation
Supported teachers and staff
- Funded Renzulli training for seven teachers who attended a weeklong summer conference on gifted education at the University of Connecticut
- Parent volunteers assisted with the move (packing, moving, cleaning, unpacking) from Reeves Rogers to Bellwood
- Hosted a welcome back breakfast for the teachers at the beginning of the school year and four teacher appreciation luncheons on inservice half-days
- Assisted in the execution of the Book Fair and helped fund the Birthday Book Club
- Provided funds to support copier services in the office
- Acknowledged faculty and staff birthdays in the newsletter
Enhanced parent involvement and communications
- Hosted the annual Boohoo/Yahoo Breakfast welcoming kindergarten parents on the first day of school for kindergarteners
- Coordinated parent volunteers who donated countless hours toward a variety of school activities
- Our two members-at-large communicated with all classrooms at the beginning of the school year and were available to hear and communicate parent concerns throughout the year
- Hosted regular coffees with the principals and four general membership meetings
- Published nine issues of the PTA's online newsletter, The Compass, along with 18 news blasts
- Maintained the bulletin board at school entrance
- Maintained our Facebook page
Promoted school spirit
- Hosted the annual new student social
- Coordinated our annual back-to-school night (held for the first time on campus)
- Planned spirit nights at Baskin Robbins, Chuck E. Cheese's, Firehouse Subs, Newk's, and Smashburger
- Provided volunteer support for Grandparents' Day (335 guests!) and holiday lunches
- Hosted our annual chili cook-off and supper which was met with record-breaking attendance
- Managed spirit merchandise sales including new items with our new logo
